Barbara Brooks-Thomas learned her first Gospel song at the age of two and has been singing ever since. She has toured throughout England, Europe and the USA with her own backing vocals band. As a conductor and coach, she brings to the choir a lifetime’s experience of Gospel singing and a comprehensive understanding of the most effective techniques for achieving an authentic Gospel sound. In 2011, Barbara was voted one of Nottingham City’s 100 Women of Substance for her commitment to Gospel music and social work.
Her husband, Steve Thomas is an accomplished musician, for whom church music has always been an integral part of his life. His father founded The Full Gospel Community Revival Church, in The Meadows, and Steve grew up providing musical accompaniment for the choir, later moving on to directing and teaching his own choirs. He emigrated to America in the early eighties, where he performed with various Gospel choirs all over the country and worked with singers such as Yolanda Adams, Danny Bell Hall and Edwin Hawkins.
